MARY GOSDEN has been named one of the “Top 25 Advocates for the Arts” by the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport!

Mary Gosden has been creating art and music her entire life. In 1986 she was earned a bachelor’s degree in music education fromSyracuseUniversity, she worked at jobs that included graphic arts. Since she was 14 years old, Ms. Gosden has been commissioned for art work in various media, from murals to pen and ink. Upon moving to Long Island, and learning the basics from an experienced porcelain painter inElmont,NY, Ms. Gosden began to sell her porcelain work as well as teach the technique to beginners. She also was filmed at a local tv station for an award- winning 30 minute program, in which she demonstrated china painting. Currently she teaches 3 and 4 day seminars throughout theUSAandCanada. Attending many state and international art shows, sometimes she is the featured guest artist. She teaches weekly classes in her home studio, on the internet and taught china painting to classes in the gifted & talented program at a local elementary school for 5 years.

Ms. Gosden has received many awards, including several Best Of Show, Best of ShowMasters Division, and numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons in porcelain art. Also the Grumbacher Gold Medal, many monetary awards, several ribbons and Mayor’s Choice, in media such as colored pencil, pen & ink, watercolor & pencil.

On porcelain, and with a love for the Art Deco style, Ms. Gosden has developed her own style with use of modern materials and methods (including her own sandblasting) that make her work unique and distinctive worldwide. Ms.Gosden gives several demonstrations each year to art leagues, civic groups and at International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc. and World Organization of China Painting conventions. She holds private sales, does commissioned work and donates pieces to charity auction events. Her articles and photos of porcelain art are published in 4 international magazines and she is active on the local, state and international levels. Her work can be found in many private collections in many countries and in the IPAT Museum in Texas and the WOCP Museumin Oklahoma City.

Owner of Mary Gosden Studio, she currently serves on the Architectural Review Board for the Village of Floral Park, and is a member of the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Gosden resides in Floral Park, NY with her husband and son. Mary’s website is:
